Funded through the Australian Government’s National Collaborative Research Infrastructure Strategy (NCRIS), TIA was established in 2008 to connect academic researchers and industry with specialist facilities, expertise and services that support the translation of promising discoveries into new therapeutics.

Syngenis Labs Ltd
Syngenis Labs Ltd is an Australian-based manufacturer of custom synthetic DNA and RNA oligonucleotides, supporting applications across research, diagnostics, and early-stage therapeutic development. As demand for custom DNA and RNA continues to grow, driven by advances in RNA medicines, molecular diagnostics and genomics, access to local regulated manufacturing remains limited across Australia and the Asia-Pacific region.
To address this gap, Syngenis is expanding into regulated, human-grade manufacturing (GMP) and is on track to become Australia’s only commercial custom RNA and DNA oligonucleotide GMP facility, with operations expected to commence in Q2 2027. By manufacturing onshore, Syngenis provides local and regional innovators with a reliable alternative to offshore suppliers, helping reduce lead times, simplify logistics and strengthen Australia’s sovereign biotechnology capability.

Red Blood Comic: Clinically Accurate Health Information, Designed for Children
Children are frequently excluded from healthcare conversations. Clinicians are typically trained to communicate with adults, and most health resources are written for adults. As a result, parents and carers are left to explain complex information to their child, often while still processing it themselves.
Red Blood Comic (RBC) is a social enterprise that translates clinical information into age-appropriate comics. We combine scientific expertise with visual storytelling, and we co-design every resource with clinicians and people with lived experience to ensure it is relevant, relatable and trustworthy.
Their work is guided by the FART framework: Fun, Accurate, Relatable and Trusted.
Their resources are used in Australian clinics to support communication between clinicians, parents and children, enabling children to participate actively in their family’s health conversation. Their titles span topics including spinal cord injury, chemotherapy and day surgery, and they have partnered with organisations including Miracle Babies Foundation, SpineCare Foundation and Northcott.
